The six elements and the job each one does
A profile is not decoration. It is a landing page with one goal: convert a curious visitor into a follower. Each element carries part of that job, and a gap in any one leaks follows.
- 1PhotoA clear, well-lit photo of your face, or a crisp recognizable mark for a brand. It makes the account feel real and worth following.
- 2NameYour name plus a hint of what you do, like "Sam, SaaS onboarding". This shows in search and adds context at a glance.
- 3BioWho you help, what you post about, and one line of proof or personality. This is where the follow decision is usually made.
- 4Pinned postYour single best thread or a clear intro to what you are about. It shows a visitor your work without making them scroll.
- 5BannerA simple header that states your focus or shows your product. The biggest visual on the page should not be wasted.
- 6LinkOne link with a clear reason to click, pointing somewhere with an obvious next step, not a bare homepage.
Bio formulas and pinned-post templates
The bio and the pinned post do most of the converting. Here are reusable shapes for both. Fill them in, then rewrite until they sound like you rather than a template.
| Bio formula | Fill-in | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Help + topic + proof | I help [who] do [outcome]. Sharing [what you post]. [proof]. | creators and consultants |
| Building + specifics | Building [product] for [who]. Posting the wins and the flops. | founders in public |
| Role + focus + human | [Role] focused on [niche]. Also here for [personal touch]. | professionals |
I help indie founders write X threads that actually get read. Sharing hooks, formats, and teardowns. 3 years, 40k followers, still learning.
- Pinned: the flagship thread. Your single best, most useful thread on your core topic.
- Pinned: the intro post. A short "here is who I am and what you will get if you follow" post.
- Pinned: the proof post. A result or story that shows you have earned the right to talk about your topic.
